A Joyful Noise

It’s three in the morning.  I’m tired but I don’t want to go to sleep.  So,  I’ve been wondering: Is it acceptable under such circumstances to clash bricks together in order to make a joyful noise suitable to keeping oneself awake?  If so, what should I say when my upstairs neighbor complains?  Should I try to reason with him by pointing out how silly it is of him to object to cheerful music?

  1. When you’ve got a brick in either hand, I think your neighbor would have to be a rather brave lad to say anything except, “Nice tune. Is that Chopin?”

You could hand him two more bricks and say, “I was hoping you’d join me in a duet!” The sheer shock on top of being abruptly awakened might stun him into acquiescence.

I suppose so, but I think just putting some James Brown on the stereo and cranking it up would be easier.
