Huxley on Art

“The finest works of art are precious, among other reasons, because they make it possible for us to know, if only imperfectly and for a little while, what it actually feels like to think subtly and feel nobly.”

Aldous Huxley

  1. Sure 🙂
When I am lucky enough to encounter the finest poetry, music or painting it immediately grabs my attention and absorbs me. The world falls away and I become consumed by the art. In this absorption, this being engrossed, I forget everything. Art engulfs the field. For a savoury moment there is only art.
Yeat’s poetry does this to me – ‘The stolen child’ is the most prominent example in my mind.
