(About a 2 minute read)
You are strong, and you are young,
And your beauty can explode a heart —
Even in its darkest night
It can make a heart go nova like a sun.
I’ve seen you navigate your life,
Gracefully pass right between towering waves
Of trouble without taking on water.
I saw you touch Stephanie’s breast
When you kissed her, your mouth open,
Touch her gentle as fluttering wings,
And I sucked in my breath to know
You’d be so good in bed for her.
But just yesterday I saw you do something,
Something so stupid, so stupid
You made me think of the gods themselves,
My dear friend, and why they created us
The way that we are.
But why do you suppose that is?
Do you think like the billions who think
They made us just to worship them,
The rascally egotists?
Or do you think they’ve prepared a home
Somewhere out beyond our deaths?
Why should they go to so much trouble,
Then why should they delay the hour
They give us the key to our home?
No, look around you — that’s all you need
To know the truth that’s so easily seen.
The gods don’t care if you live in sorrow,
They don’t care if you revel in joy.
They don’t care if the storms lash your life,
They don’t care if the sun delights you.
They only care you learn wisdom while alive.
But just yesterday I saw you do something,
Something so stupid, so stupid
You made me think of the gods themselves,
My dear friend, and why they created us
The way that we are.
Knowing yourself is the beginning of wisdom,
But knowing others is the middle of wisdom,
And the gods made the stupid among us
So we might know us through knowing them.
You see the stupid are a mirror
Held up to our primate eyes
So that we might see in its surface
How we are seen by the gods.
Wisdom is having the proper perspective,
The right take or view of a thing.
So go look in the mirror of the gods
To see what your brains really are,
Then fulfill the desire of the gods
By coming away the wiser for it.
Huh – did you look in the mirror, Paul? I do sometimes, and wonder what on earth I was thinking. Or not…

Everyday, Raili. Everyday the mirror comes to me, even when I tried to hide from it for the sake of me ego. 😀

Oh, heavy. You know you’ve done a really stupid, bad thing when it drives a man to question his reality.

Interesting point. Just curious, but what if his reality is wrong?
