What is your favorite nut?
Why do you suppose it is socially acceptable for women to wear traditional men’s clothing, but not for men to wear traditional women’s clothing?
Roughly how many electronic gadgets do you own?

NUTS
Cashews! Yes, I know they aren’t technically nuts, and I don’t care.
GENDER ROLES
Durkheim had this one right; we socially police the privileged role with much more vigor than the unprivileged, and have very different attitudes toward violations. Maleness is “sacred” in the sociologist’s classic sense, marked as distinct and important; mixing it with womanhood renders him symbolically impotent. Men can’t wear dresses for the same reason I can’t wear t shirts and jeans at work, or why pastors always have a collar even when impractical. Symbolic separation via dress and the construction of social authority are intimately connected processes.
GADGETS
Maybe five? Depends on what you consider a gadget. I regularly use my two laptops and my phone, plus my bluetooth speaker.

And I agree with you about Durkheim’s observations.
