Hi Paul! How’s the painting going? Humans distract themselves from the real world out of fear. We are all so caught up on having our phones and other electronic device that takes away from seeing the real world
When it comes to day dreams or pretending we’re living a different life, maybe we are. Every now and than we peak into that other life and take a look around.
Because we can. Humans have imagination, and the ability to cancel out what is really happening in favor of other “realities.” To be wholly human is to learn to navigate between multiple realities. And though we may be (I don’t actually know if we are) the only species capable of juggling multiple realities simultaneously, we are not the only species to seek cover and hide from exposure to a single outward reality. Think ostriches with their heads in the sand, or cats seeking shelter in boxes. 😀

May be because reality can really drain away all your energy and dwelling in a fantasy world, as unrealistic as that can be, is catharsis

I don’t know because the World around us is so much more beautiful and interesting than the things we distract ourselves with….

I often recall T.S. Eliot’s comment: “Humankind cannot bear very much reality” The Four Quartets “Burnt Norton”

What is real is already there. We always yearn for what is not there…
