A Flock of Sparrows for Majel: The Value of Honesty

A Flock of Sparrows for Majel

(About a 2 minute read)

That’s it! The word I was searching for is “curious”!

I find it curious
You do not see that you are lying
When you say, “I love you”.

To yourself mainly.
You are mainly lying to yourself.

I find it curious
How you refuse to look at them.
How you refuse to see them.
See your lies.

I find it curious
How you refuse to stop,
To stop and take a moment,
Take just a single moment to look.

Can you tell me why you won’t look?
Just curious.
Do you have any ideas about that?
Just curious.
Ideas about why you won’t look?
Just curious.

Oh well, you won’t say.

What’s that?
You ask why I’m leaving you?

Fair enough.
I sure you won’t understand.
But it’s only fair that you
Should have a chance to understand.

The best way I can say it:

It is not that you do not love me.
It is not really that.
You are a good person.
You mean well.
And I am not a fragile thing
Who feels he will die
If he is not loved.
I could stay
I could even be happy.
I could stay even
Without you love.

It is only that I am scared
Of your dishonesty.

Your dishonesty is so huge
You will not so much as glance
At the truth.

It is only that I fear
Our apartment is too small
For the three of us.

I accept you do not love me.
I might even accept
For awhile that you lie.

But I cannot accept that you lie
And then do not care at all that you lie.

How can you and I be together
In any authentic way

When we cannot speak truth
To each other?

Cannot so much as speak
The truth.

I'd love to hear from you. Comments make my day.
