I Need Your Help With a Housewarming Party!

I need your help to hold a housewarming party for Jane Basil at her new blog.  The door prize for helping out is a 30 USD shopping trip on Amazon.

If I came across a Jane Basil poem published in the Oxford Companion to English Poetry, I would not think it out of place.

Skeptical?  Go and read Promises!  Read just that one Basil poem.  Then tell me whether you concur with me.  Your call, but please don’t make your call until at least you have read Promises.

If there be any reason not to include Jane in an Oxford Companion, that reason would need to be discarded were she to turn her attention to the allegedly more “important” topics of life, such as the nature of truth, the essence of humanity, the human yearning to be renewed, reborn into life.

Jane focuses on the common, everyday concerns of lovers, friends, and people in their relationships to others.  The Oxford folk seem to focus on the “larger things”.  But that’s about the only way a Basil poem would not readily and instantly be recognized as fit for inclusion in a Companion.

In support of Jane and her new blog, I am encouraging you to visit her and comment on her poetry by offering you a chance to win a modest prize.

Between now and two weeks from now, any person or domestic animal who comments on Jane’s new blog will be entered into a random drawing.  The winner of that drawing will be offered a sweet little shopping spree on Amazon.

Buy anything you like up to and including $30 dollars worth of merchandise.  I will pick up the tab.  This offer is not good only to lands and places where the shipping costs would be greater than thirty dollars.  Otherwise, the goodies are yours entirely free of any cost to you.

Please act now!  Comment on Jane’s new blog before Thursday, April 18, at 11:59 PM to enter.

Jane’s Poetry Blog.

P.S. If you like Jane’s poetry, please consider reblogging one of the poems on her new blog — or even this drawing.  Let’s see if we can get her some visitors!

  1. I love you Paul.

I’d say more, but I have to wash my hair. You know how it is; the Bard of Avon likes his chamber pot scrubbed with clean hair every morning at 9.00 am sharp. We both benefit from his proclivity. The fresh fragrance of geranium shampoo is transferred to his potty, and the heavenly emissions from his eminent bladder give my hair a beautiful golden glow.

Grateful as I am to him, Mr Shakespeare is even more grateful to me, and he displays his gratitude by scrapping all my pathetic attempts at writing, and supplying me with all the poetry I need for my blog. He even lets me put my name to it.

    1. I’m pretty sure I discovered your blog from comments you left on Jane’s blog, Riali, so I’m pretty you’ve known her longer them me. Probably much longer.

I saw where you reposted “Promises” on your blog. That was super-cool.

      1. I don’t know. Maybe I went from your blog to Jane’s or maybe it was from Jane’s to yours. It’s been awhile. I’m not sure I can recall now. I just know one blog led to the other.
