I never expect other people to be perfect, but I beat myself up for not being perfect all the time. I wonder if there’s a vaccine.
I used to do much the same. At one time, i had a perfectionist streak as long and broad as the Mississippi. I think what changed for me was that I gradually absorbed the truth that what we consider to be “perfect” is an arbitrary choice. Not an easy thing for me to see at first, but that is what became my “vaccine”.
“One in all, all in One. If only this is realized, there is no worry about not being
perfect.” The Third Patriarch of Zen [Seng ts’an] B
“If thou shouldst say, “It is enough, I have reached perfection,” all is lost. It is the function of perfection to make one know one’s imperfection.” St. Augustine C

I don’t expect PEOPLE to be perfect….but I expect Trump to be perfect because he expects us to think he’s perfect.
